Summertime on Lake Orlando

The Pine Oak Creek cottage was
formerly our summer home. We intended to add a master bedroom and laundry room
to use it for our retirement. Because of setbacks from the creek and the cost
of the addition, we found it better to divide our 250 foot lake frontage into
two lots, build a new home and rent the cottage. Pine Oak Creek is on the
corner of Beasley Creek and Lake Orlando which is the first lake of five on the
Upper Chain of the Waupaca Chain Of Lakes. The side of the cottage is along the creek and the front faces
Lake Orlando. There is a small pier into the sand-bottomed creek, which is good
for small children swimming, wading and playing ball. A large pier on the lake,
with a ladder, umbrella table and built-in benches, is good for swimming,
fishing and picnics. The water of Lake Orlando is up to 39ft deep, clean, and
clear. All of the Upper Chain has a six-mile an hour speed limit and mostly has
canoe traffic, so it is safe for swimming and good for fishing bass, northerns
and pan fish. There is plenty of room for walking, playing croquet or badminton
on our grounds and room to play volleyball and basketball in the back. There is
a small playground next to the cottage with a wooden swing set with child and
baby swings, slide, fort, and sandbox.

INFORMATION ON PINE OAK CREEK COTTAGE RENTAL
The Pine Oak Creek cottage was formerly our summer home. We intended to add
a master bedroom and laundry room to use it for our retirement. Because of setbacks from the creek and the cost of the
addition, we found it better to divide our 250 foot lake frontage into two
lots, build a new home and rent the cottage.
Pine Oak Creek is on the corner of Beasley Creek and Lake Orlando which is
the first lake of five on the Upper Chain. The side of the cottage is along the
creek and the front faces Lake Orlando. There is a small pier into the
sand-bottomed creek, which is good for small children swimming, wading and
playing ball. A large pier on the lake, with a ladder, umbrella table and
built-in benches, is good for swimming, fishing and picnics. The water of Lake
Orlando is up to 39' deep, clean, and clear. All of the Upper Chain has a
six-mile an hour speed limit and mostly has canoe traffic, so it is safe for
swimming and good for fishing bass, northerns and pan fish. There is plenty of
room for walking, playing croquet or badminton on our grounds and room to play
volleyball and basketball in the back. There is a small playground next to the
cottage with a wooden swing set with child and baby swings, slide, fort, and
sandbox. The cottage comes with a picnic table, lawn chairs, a fire pit, a
Weber grill, and a rowboat. Three canoes, a second row boat or a paddleboat are
usually available. Life
jackets are provided. A miniature golf course and Hartman Creek State Park with
its bathing beach and hiking trails are just down the road.
The house has three bedrooms: two with double beds and a loft bedroom with
twin beds. The two story living room, with natural stone fireplace and
skylights, is approximately 20' x 24' and has a queen sized sleeper sofa,
another sofa , love seat, chairs,
a game table, and single built-in bunk bed. There are also bookcases with
books, games, toys, cable TV and a
VCR. The bedrooms all have table fans and the living room, kitchen and bathroom
have ceiling fans. The kitchen eating area with a large table has two glass
walls overlooking the woods and the creek. It is equipped with dishes,
utensils, pots and pans, toaster, can opener, electric coffee pot, corn popper,
free standing chopping block, microwave, electric stove, and a refrigerator
with a separate door freezer. The bath is modern with a tub with shower and
sliding glass doors. The house is insulated and has electric heat. There is
also a lighted screen porch with a round table, chairs, and lawn furniture.
Cribs, highchairs, a playpen, toys and other equipment are available. Blankets,
quilts and pillows are provided, but you must bring your own towels and sheets.
The house sleeps nine, but we prefer to rent to no more than eight plus a
baby in a crib. More than this would cause a problem with bathroom facilities,
parking, and waste disposal.
Sorry, but pets are not allowed since we had a bad experience with our
first rental. We are also concerned about allergic reactions of subsequent
renters. We also ask that you do not bring fire works on to our property. We
have many trees and we are concerned about the danger of forest fires. Our
neighbor burned down his pier shooting off fireworks. We also ask that you do not smoke in the cottage.
Check-in time is 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and checkout time is 9:30 a.m. the
following Saturday. We need this extra time to thoroughly clean the house. Our
rental for the 2008 summer season will be $950 weekly for one to eight guests
with a $450 deposit due at the time of the reservation. There is an added
charge of $15 daily or $100 weekly for each additional day or night guest. Most
of our bookings are from people who stayed with us previously. If you do not
have children due back in school, you could consider coming in early June or late August when the weather is
wonderful. September through December will also be available if we do not rent
the house out for the winter. This country with its hills, farms and woods is
gorgeous when the leaves change in the fall. Winter is as crowded as summer and
offers snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, skating on the lake and
in a rink, and other winter fun. We will consider rentals in the fall for three
days and up and for a week and up in the winter. Winter rentals depend on the
amount of snow accumulated in the driveway. Please call for rates. A nine-month
rental is available from Labor Day until the end of May at a special low
monthly rate.
Waupaca is known for its stellar attraction, the famed 22 interlocking Chain
O'Lakes. The Chain has 22 spring-fed lakes ranging in size from 2.5 acres to
115 acres with depths from 8 feet to 110 feet. There are many excellent
restaurants in the area including the Wheelhouse for pizza, the Chez Marche for organic/natural foods, Simpson's Indian
Room, King's Table, and the Northern Trails Inn.
There are abundant gift and antique shops; waterslides, go carts; cruises,
shows; dances; canoe trips with rapids; bowling; a movie theater; water shows;
excellent petting zoos; miniature golf; several golf courses including Fox
Fire, an excellent 18 hole course; a driving range; horseback riding and
Hartman Creek State Park with its public beach and hiking trails. Shopping
includes Pick 'n Save, Piggly Wiggly, Big K-Mart, Walgreen's, and many small
stores in Waupaca.
If you should have any more questions, please contact me at 715-258-7797 or
by email at nrbrandt@charter.net. You are very welcome to view our property.
The inside of the cottage may be seen any time it is unoccupied or during the
summer between 10:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Please call to be sure that we
are home.
Warm regards,
Richard and Noreen Brandt
